Three levels of Beginning Argentine Tango classes are taught every Wednesday evening by our teachers Brian and Fay at the Carrillo Recreation Center. 100 E. Carrillo St., Santa Barbara CA.
After class, we usually meet at the Café Buenos Aires to socialize and dance. Please feel free to join us!

Brian & Fay also teach Intermediate/Advanced Argentine Tango classes on Saturday afternoons at the same location (see below).

They also teach a weekly Special Topics Class on Thursdays from 6:30 - 7:30pm.
Each six-week session focuses on an individual specialty area, such as:

• Milonga
• Milonga con Traspié
• Vals Cruzado
• Men's & Women's Technique
• Technique for dancing in Close-Embrace

...and a variety of other topics.

Each class in a six-week series builds upon the material covered in the previous classes. Dancers with limited prior experience in Argentine Tango are encouraged to join at the beginning of a class series, as many important concepts are covered in the very first class.

Experienced dancers, or returning students who wish to "brush up" a little, are welcome to "drop in" for individual classes without enrolling for the entire series.

CLASSES DO NOT REQUIRE A DANCE PARTNER!

SOME CLASS EXERCISES MAY REQUIRE WORKING WITH A PARTNER OF THE SAME GENDER

• Level I meets Wednesdays from 6-7pm--no partner or experience required.
  
  This class is designed to be repeated & we recommend it as a review/refresher for our more experienced dancers who want to spend some time honing their basic skills. (Always a good idea!) The series focuses on: posture & walking; basics of lead & follow; Tango history & social conventions.
  
  
• SB City residents with Resident Discount Card:
  $67 for each six-week series or $12 per class (drop-in)
  otherwise: $74 for each six-week series or $14 per class (drop-in)

• Level II meets Wednesdays from 7-8pm--no partner required.
  
  This is a continuation of Level I and builds on the skills learned in that series. If you are enrolled in Level II, you may attend the Level I classes at no extra charge.
  
  The series focuses on: even & uneven walks; variations of forward- & backward-ochos; basic turning movements (giros).
  
  
• SB City residents with Resident Discount Card:
  $67 for each six-week series or $12 per class (drop-in)
  otherwise: $74 for each six-week series or $14 per class (drop-in)

• Level III meets Wednesdays from 8-9pm
  
  For most people, we recommend taking this after completing Level II at least two times.
  
  This class concentrates on the technique of turning movements (giros), with and without leg displacements (entradas). Boleos & ganchos may also be covered, as time permits.
• Level III is intended to help dancers hone their fundamental skills, so that they can begin attending our more demanding Intermediate/Advanced classes.
  
  Most students repeat Level III several times.

• This class covers a wide variety of challenging material, and moves at a fast pace. Designed for those who already have a good command of basic skills, especially:
  • giros (right & left, with or without entradas)
  • boleos (front & back, on both sides)
  • ganchos (both sides)
• Classes involve complex combinations of basic elements, detailed exploration of technique and body-management, and exposure to a more advanced vocabulary of movement.
• Classes are usually held two or three times each month
  on Saturdays from 11am-1pm
